O THANATOS TOU DANTON (Danton’s Death)

The Marseillaise played over and over again, each time with penetrating intensity. And yet the giant sofa that fills the stage looks so nice and comfy! But on the other hand, perhaps it would be better to simply refer to the sofa as a long bench – and an old saying states that shoving something further down the bench is a convenient way to put off dealing with it. Additionally, this might give way to associations with bench-like torture devices such as the rack. At any rate, concealed underneath the fluffy sofa cushions is the hard wood of reality. Or the warped wood that constitutes mankind. Either way, it is the stuff that forms the framework and the engine for revolution and revolt. We are the bench.

No other strange metaphors or eccentric imagery is necessary to assert how influential this Greek Danton production can be!
